I just started back to work a week ago. I've got my keychains I made last year but not much else. With that in mind I signed up for a booth on the 26th. At SUTRA Studio in downtown Lowell MA.

So this week I started making. My matching game is laser cut in little circles. I was going to cut the same thing but I had an idea.
While shopping with my husband we always look on the shelves for ideas, inspiration and to see what's selling. He saw a k-cup holder and mentioned it to me. I immediately knew what to do.
I could re-design my cuts for the matching game to be the holes for k-cups! It wasn't as easy as I thought. The holes the game pieces leave behind are too small.

I began testing. I wanted the k-cups to sit in such a way that fingers could easily fit under the rim. That way anyone could easily grab them.
After all my testing what did I find?

I noticed that I could cut the game pieces, then a bigger hole for the k-cups. Leaving, between the two cuts, a ring.
Now I had not only developed 2 products but potentially 3!

All there was left to do was make some decorations to etch. And design the front edge of the draw to be a decorative handle.

Now onto the wood working part of the builds. I need to make a frame for the draws and whip out a bunch of matching game holders.
For those of you asking "What about the tray?!" Yes I'll get to that. One thing about me, is that I've got a lot going on in this head, and I wish I had more of me to go around.
With the coming table I need to fill, my priority needs to be on products I've already made, the matching games. Welcome to the wild ride of a creator. We are pulled in so many different ways it's like a kid with 10 people offering candy.
Until next time!
