Make It Fest, Free Wood and Tight Quarters, Ohhh Myyy

Updated: Jun 12

Hello Hen House readers!

BIG SIGH - The crunch time is over. I'm on the other side of Make It Fest. An event I've been working on for a while.

Make It Fest was great. Check out all these awesome photos...

The "Meet Our Makers" banner turned out beautiful! Exactly as I envisioned. Andee (pictured in the middle behind the table) helped a lot with the banner and the table. I learned a bunch about marketing by watching her!

The day started rainy but cleared up most of the day. The event was eventually canceled when storm clouds rolled in. Check out Make It Labs on Instagram for more pictures of the event, while you're there, give them a follow...

Thank you Make It Labs for hosting this event! Thank you to all the makers who donated items for showcasing! Especially THANK YOU to Andee who was my partner in crime!

Events have changed. My engagement with the Lowell Folk Festival may be less of a "table to sell" and more of an "information booth". We will know soon as the coordinator will tell us within two weeks.

I've added an event!

Christ Church United Yard Sale on June 21st from 8-1.

  • I MIGHT be selling at Lowell Folk Festival. fingers crossed!

  • I WILL be selling at Christ Church United.

Free Wood was on the agenda the very next day. I met two new members who needed a bit of help. Nago's family home is in need of a bit of love. With a basement that had flooded he and his wife need to clear out all of the belongings to make repairs.

I helped clear the stairs to the basement which hadn't been opened in so long, a healthy inch or two of dirt and roots had settled, on each step. We shoved the dirt off and got to work.

As someone who has seen two family homes sold, I very much respect that Nago and his wife are willing to repair that precious keep sake.

All three of us moved the wood from the basement to the yard to assess what we had.

All in all I got a bunch of pine, some oak and I think a walnut. Mostly, very long thin pieces which will work perfect for what I have planned next for my Dynamic Designs series.

In family news, as much as I want to continue my Dynamic Design series, I need to concentrate on the home. Yesterday did laundry, grocery shopped, and baked banana bread, home made pizza with from scratch dough, and a strawberry rhubarb pie, all in one day.

My youngest, who will be 6 next week, cleaned the entire kids room while I was at the Make It Fest. THIS IS NO SMALL FEAT! I've never seen that room cleaned without my help or major encouragement. She just wanted a clean room. I'm so happy I could cry!

Now I have to admit that my products and materials have overtaken the home. A 2 bedroom condo that houses 6 people! Room is tight and with my stuff everywhere, it's even tighter.

To solve this, I'll move all my work stuff to our storage unit. One problem, our unit is kinda far away.

Great news, a new storage unit is opening really close to us.

Bad news, the opening has been delayed until, who knows when.

Meanwhile that free wood is still in my car, and my work stuff is still all over the house since I don't want to off load everything to our unit, just to pack it back up in a day.

That sums it up. Three days has felt like a week. I think it's time for a breather.
