My last blog post was a great reminder of what I've done, and need to do. I show all my work up to this point so It's worth checking out.
Today I checked off one item...
To Do:
Leather Topper for K-Cup Holder
Hide magnets in Decorative Tray
Build display for Jewelry - DONE
My one day build started with a trip to the storage unit. I didn't know what I was checking off this list, but I was determined to finish something.
I riffled through my scraps and put a plan together. I built display stands in the past and knew it would be easy to do.
As I was doing my various cuts, I noticed something interesting in the scrap box. Strips of bark! And they were just the right width!

Not one moment of hesitation, I knew these would give my stand that extra creativity and rustic style I'm going for.
So I cut them and glued them.

Since I was only gluing the bark to the sides, I placed the sides together with NO glue. Then I used the clamps to glue the bark only.
Place them so I was clamping it all together at the same time.
Then I planned my nail placement and predrilled the nail holes.

While the glue was drying, I sanded the those pre-drilled, and leg pieces pieces.

With the glue dry I laid out the pieces again, this time being carful to space them out evenly.

To glue this I found that using clamps was to cumbersome.
So I put a bunch of whatever I could find and just weighed it down.

While waiting yet again for glue to dry. I set my sights on the 'legs' in the back, and added the hinges.

Wrong.
I added them wrong.
Of course it only took a second for me to turn them around and add them correctly.
Finally, I was able to stand up my creation! My pile of scrap had been transformed into a THING!
Why doesn't everyone create things? It's so fun!
It was time for my favorite part of any project, finishing!
In this case, staining.
Hammer in the nails (that we predrilled for earlier) and I'm done!
I truly think this gives off a rustic feel and I can't wait to see jewelry on it.
